Check Parent's Noticeboards
Details of Mews meetings and events are located on the notices boards
of each centre, usually inside the main entrance. Please ask a member
of staff if you are not sure of dates as they are usually in possession
of the latest facts. Failing that email the co-ordinator
who will be happy to keep you informed.
Mews Management Committee Meetings
An advisory committee meets about 4 times a year to discuss issues relating to the running of the Mews; things like fees, staffing, events, etc.
It is comprised of staff members, representatives of the charity, and parents (with and without children in the Mews).
Parents are invited to get involved with the committee directly by becoming parent representatives, or voice their opinions through their reps. Meetings are informal and friendly and usually take place in the hotel's conference room.
In addition to parent representatives, parents may be elected to the following posts:
Chairperson & Vice Chairperson
Run the show! Move quickly through the agenda (devised by the centre manager) giving everybody an opportunity to speak.
Secretary
Write up the minutes and make sure every member gets an agenda, and that the member list is up to date.
Treasurer
You don't have to do the accounts, we have an administrator for that, but cast an eye over the figures produced by the Centre Manager, and sign some of the cheques when necessary. A head for figures is an advantage.
Publicity & Media
Get the copy and images together for a quarterly Mew News sheet, make the odd poster and get involved with Mews events. Experience in design or publishing is an advantage.
For more information about how to get involved with the committee, speak to a senior member of staff. The current list of members will be on the parent's noticeboard should you wish to contact a current parent rep.
