A terrific day and over £500 raised for Clic Sargent!
Children, parents, staff and friends of the Mews Nursery & Playclub, celebrated the nursery’s 20th birthday and recent ‘outstanding’ Ofsted inspection on Saturday, by releasing balloons from Henrietta Park in aid of the children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent.
Sally Evans, the Mew’s Senior Co-Ordinator, said that “The afternoon began with entertainment from Dave Hickory, now a regular fixture at our summer fundays. The children then enjoyed having their faces painted, arting-up t-shirts and mugs, and jostling with each other in one of the two bouncy castles. After a visit from one of Bath’s fire engines, Dave led the countdown to release the balloons, which each child had bought through sponsorship. There is a small prize for the child whose balloon is found furthest away”. Over 40 balloons where released and together with donations on the day the children raised just over £500 for Clic Sargent, a charity which specialises in caring for children and young people suffering from cancer.
Lena and Enzo from the Carfax Hotel, who have provided the children with food over the past 20 years (see our 10th Birthday Celebrations), where asked to cut the birthday cake, along with two of the oldest and youngest children; Lucy Harrington and Ben Maclean.
